Through the Stabilization Facility in Libya project supported by UNDP, the projects office of the Municipality of Benghazi has started the rehabilitation of a clinic in Guwarsha and the ‘Jeel Al-Wa’ad’ school in Garyounis.
“The new school year starts in a few months, and we want our students to be able to resume classes in their own area instead of enrolling in schools that are far away. This also goes for the staff of the school, many of whom live in the area too. Repairing the schools will positively affect the 12,000 people who live in Garyounis,” said Mohammed Faraj, a member of the neighbourhood council of Garyounis.
“It’s an important facility especially for young children like my own, in case of any emergency. Guwarsha is far away from the city’s main hospitals which are already suffering with overcrowding, so it’s good that this clinic will function again for us and for other hospitals, affirmed a young mother living in Guwarsha.
