The head of Libya's Presidency Council has reportedly fired the entire board of the state-owned General Electric Company of Libya (GECOL).

According to the Libya Herald, Faiez Serraj, who is also Prime Minister-designate, said the GECOL management had failed to solve the problems of power cuts and electricity distribution.

He appointed Abdul Majid Hamza as the new President of GECOL, and Ali Mohammed Sassi as the Chief Executive, along with a seven-member board, all as interim positions.

Its possible to add approx 500 MW in National grid provided the utility moves fast and come up with a solution to work in reducing shortages and power break down.

With improvement in security situation and positive developments the absence of a solid plan by GECOL to ver come shortages will gravely damage their repute and Management will face more actions and thrashing so from public and politicians
