Huge Libyan Deal for Swedish Club

The Swedish football club Ostersund are to receive approximately $76 million to educate Libyan footballers, Reuters reports, citing local media sources.

The five-year deal, funded by the Libyan state, would see 60 Libyan players going to the town, 460 kilometers north of Stockholm, from the beginning of March to the end of November, increasing to 250 players in the second year.

In addition to playing football, they will study English, computers, sports management and sports administration.

Daniel Kindberg, chairman of second-tier side, told Sportbladet:

"From a Swedish perspective, it is absolutely the biggest soccer-related deal that has been signed ... This broadens our base unbelievably. It means an awful, awful lot."

Oh, I thought, Libya had other, more important worries than educating football/soccer-players.
    But, OK, so be it...
