Telecoms Disrupted in Libya

Telephone and internet services in Libya have been disrupted by two separate incidents.

A fire, believed to be arson, at an underground fiber optic junction box in the Soug il-Thlat district of Tripoli caused major disruptions to telecommunications inside and outside Libya yesterday. Telecom companies were on the scene within an hour and took action to divert connections via alternate routes.

Meanwhile in the Bani Walid area, Almadar Telecom has reportedly had to stop service after one of its stations was destroyed by a rocket propelled grenade.
