Libyan Press Solidarity reported that on 29 August that clashes broke out between the towns of Al Gualis and Kakala, near Gharyan, after displaced residents of Al Gualis attempted to return home. On 29 August, the daily Akhbar Libya Al Jadida reported a Beni Walid Local Council statement condemning acts of kidnapping, torture and killing that have targeted rebels in the city. The statement accused Libyan security forces of complicity in the acts.
On 30 August, he Tripoli-based consulting firm Aldir’ii reported an increase in security at Tripoli International Airport, which it interpreted as an attempt to reassure foreigners that the government is improving the general security situation. A separate Press Solidarity report claimed that a military trial for the rebels who stormedTripoliInternationalAirport on 4 June began on 29 August.
Unconfirmed reports claimed that Akakus Oil Operations suspended production at its Murzuq Basin field on 31 August after an attack on an employee by a brigade tasked with the facilities protection. Akakus has developed two major blocks in the Al Sharara Field in the Murzuq Basin, which are reported to produce around 340,000 bpd.
On 31 August, a journalist at the Tripoli Post claimed that foreign embassies in the Tripoli Towers, where the newspaper is based, have received threats from Islamists that the buildings could be attacked. The journalist also claimed that many Islamist attacks are never reported, citing a bomb attack on 29 August at the Soha Al Hasna beauty salon in city.
The Libya Herald reported clashes between two groups of young men in Zawiya on 2 September. As many as seven people were reported killed and over thirteen injured. The clashes reportedly began after an attempted carjacking, and ended after the intervention of the local security forces.
