The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) has condemned the suicide attack against the court house in the Libyan city of Misrata on 4th October.
The attack, for which the Islamic State (ISIL) claimed responsibility, killed at least three and wounded over 15, including civilians.
The Special Representative to the Secretary-General and Head of UNSMIL, Dr. Ghassan Salame (pictured), sends his sincere condolences to the families of those killed and expresses his hope for the swift recovery of those injured.
Indiscriminate attacks against civilians, including employees of the judicial institutions, are violations of human rights and international humanitarian law and cannot be justified. Those behind today’s bombing and other such despicable acts must face justice.
UNSMIL conveys its solidarity to the Government and people of Libya.
