Canadian-based engineering firm SNC-Lavalin has announced that it has replaced president and CEO Bob Card with Neil Bruce, but claims the move is "completely unrelated" to new allegations about its business in Libya.
The company faced new allegations on Monday from Riadh Ben Aïssa, SNC's former executive vice-president, who claims the company has made him a scapegoat, and who says other top executives endorsed bribes and lavish gifts to win contracts from the Gaddafi regime.
Ben Aïssa, who is back in Canada having served 2½ years in a Swiss jail having admitted to corruption and money laundering tied to SNC projects in Libya, made the claims in a court pleading as he defends himself against civil lawsuits by the company.
