The president of Libya’s General National Congress, Mohammed Magarief (pictured), has said his country would compensate foreign companies owed money for projects carried out before last year's revolution.
Meeting with Turkish businessmen over a dinner hosted by the Turkish-Libyan Business Council in Istanbul, Magarief said:
"No doubt, although these companies were harmed, the Libyan people were also harmed as these projects were not finished, ... The new Libya has not been established for injustice and for the violation of the rights of a party. Of course, these problems exist ... No Libyan authority is planning to violate any company’s rights. This may be either Turkish companies or companies from another country."
